About

Background

The Scottish Garelochhead Marches (SGM) is a Tri-Service military event for units wishing to qualify for the Nijmegen 4 Day International Marches. It will consist of two days of road marching averaging 40km per day. Military teams participating in the event can use the SGM as their qualifying march for the 2015 Nijmegen 4 Day March in July. Potential Nijmegen teams for subsequent years also use SGM as a means of experiencing the joys and difficulties of raising a Nijmegen team by mixing with experienced team leaders and marchers.

When will it take place this year?

The SGM-15 will take place on the weekend of the 2nd and 3rd May 2015

Where is Garelochhead?

The marches will take place in and around the village of Garelochhead on the West Coast of Scotland. An area famed for its natural beauty and close to the scenic tourist destination of Loch Lomond. Directions on how to get there and the area itself will be sent out with your joining instructions. We've provided a map of the area below.
